about

This will be the first song from our first album Shitty Songs for Shitty Kids

lyrics

I am a turtle
wanting nothing for them a shell, candle-lit
and the curve of a singers voice,
and a good book,

I have a field,
in front of a theatre
and a bottle of beer
and loneliness like the English Channel on a clear day
You can see Normandy
But you cannot reach it
Do not try
Stronger men and women have drowned

So I put my fingers into the wounds in my hands and my side
Doubting Thomas that I am
I find each weak place in my defenses
and I go for the throat.

Hoping to set my little desert island on fire
and signal a rescue
Or if I had my druthers
die choking on smoke.

That’s a lie.
I’m not dramatic enough to hurt myself so I must be extra dramatic in my description of my desire.
I just keep sending out messages in bottles.
Waiting for someone to say, I love you
and that to heal me.
